Pewter Keepsakes

In 1999, the Foundation tried something new and different to raise funds for
educational extras. Pewter Keepsakes depicting the exteriors of each of the
districts schools were created for the Foundation by Colorado metal sculptor
Ben Cordsen and then sold to district residents just before the holiday season.
This fund-raiser has already resulted in about $16,000 for
Foundation programs. The keepsakes are still available and can be ordered through our Pewter Keepsakes web page. The keepsakes would make perfect holiday,
end-of-school-year or graduation gifts.

Sketch of the Young Elementary keepsake
For many District 204 families, certain school years are
"milestone years."
Maybe the oldest child just started
kindergarten. Maybe the youngest child is a senior. Or maybe this is the first year
the family no longer has a child in school.
The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation has created a way for families to commemorate
their particular piece of District 204 history. The foundation has contracted with
Colorado metal sculptor Ben Cordsen to handcraft pewter keepsake momentos, each about four
inches long, depicting the exterior of individual District 204 schools. Each
keepsake is a time-consuming venture, taking about four weeks to create from a photograph
of the school.
The school's name is etched on the front of the souvenir, with the artist's signature
and date on the reverse side.
Each keepsake is $12. Add $2 shipping if sent directly to your home, $1 for each
additional keepsake.
