Fine Arts Festival

collage.jpg (25959 bytes)Sponsored by the Foundation each spring, the district-wide Fine Arts Festival displays and features the art, music, theater and dance talents – as well as the home economics and industrial technology projects – of our students (all grade levels). This event will be held on Saturday, May 19, in 2007.

Created in 1988 and previously hosted by one of our high schools, this popular, well-attended event has expanded in conjunction with the district’s tremendous growth. As a result, the annual festival is held at both Waubonsie and Neuqua – to better showcase the talents of the students attending each high school and their respective feeder schools.

Waubonsie's fest includes works by its own students, along with those of students from Indian Plains High School, and Granger, Hill and Still Middle Schools. They are joined by the works of students from 11 elementary schools -- Brookdale, Brooks, Cowlishaw, Georgetown, Gombert, Longwood, May Watts, McCarty, Owen, Steck and Young.

At Neuqua, artistic displays and performances include works by students from Neuqua Valley, from Crone, Gregory and Scullen middle schools and from Prairie Children Preschool. They are joined by works of students from 10 elementary schools -- Builta, Clow, Fry, Graham, Kendall, Patterson, Spring Brook, Welch, Wheatland, and White Eagle.

Some 60 musical performances by bands, choirs and orchestras take place throughout both high school sites. And the hallways are filled with more than 12,000 pieces of visual arts, 3-D works, ceramics, computer imagery and more.

In addition to financial support from the Foundation, the Fine Arts Festival was sponsored by grants from the Naperville Jaycees and the City of Naperville in 2005. In previous years, the event has been sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary and Rotary of Naperville Clubs, as well as by Pepsi Cola.
